On launching WebISTAD / Dr R A Mashelkar, FRS
The companies across the globe will have to innovate by investing more in research and development either in-house or by out-sourcing from research institutions like CSIR. Research institutions across the globe will be under increasing pressure to innovate and stand up to global competition to be able to attract these opportunities. The governments across the world are insisting on public funded laboratories to build effective linkages with user industries in a way that renders them financially independent of government grants. On the other hand, researchers today want to become experts in emerging sectors where their knowledge finds application beyond local environments and cultures. Therefore, work that is not up to international standards will be of declining use in global research and development. There is ,thus, both an incentive and an opportunity for collaborations between research teams from developing and developed world amongst themselves and / or businesses. CSIR,
India is today an organization with a global R&D platform. International
scientific cooperation in CSIR is a very high priority area. We are
committed to grow in this area at a pace that was, until now, considered
beyond the realm of practicality . CSIR scientists are expected to strengthen
and enrich the contents and activities of WebISTAD that helps to internationalise
their research through I would urge my fellow scientists in CSIR to remember to create a value for our international customers and clients. To do this we must be ambitious in seeking opportunities, determined in converting opportunities into results, united in our vision for CSIR. While doing international business, we need to reiterate & the world that: ¨
We Act With Integrity Our vision is to be the world's preferred contract research destination and a provider of top of the line R&D products and services.
